Position:                Marketing Intern ( Baltimore, Maryland)

Description:          OrderUp Marketing Interns are passionate about OrderUp and want to share that passion with friends, family, fellow students and complete strangers. Their main goals are to increase brand awareness locally, introduce others to the OrderUp’s unique food-ordering platform, and spread an overall brand love through on campus events, guerilla marketing, and other creative avenues. This position will combine Sales and Customer Relationship Management, Marketing Program Oversight and Execution.

Location:               Interns will report directly to OrderUp’s Baltimore location at 2400 Boston Street, Baltimore MD 21224

Reports To:           Community Marketing Manager

Schedule:              Part-Time [avg. 5-25 hours per week; includes nights and weekends]

Training:                Marketing Intern will be supervised and mentored directly by the OrderUp Community Marketing Manager. All interns will undergo a 1 on 1 on-boarding process throughout the first several weeks of joining OrderUp; during which they will be mentored in all software programs, best practices, and company standards. Marketing Interns will be work hand-in-hand with department leadership throughout their experience to integrate them in planning processes, strategy brainstorming seminars, and developing a great understanding for strategic marketing and brand development.


  • Work on partnerships with campus organizations, events managers, and local businesses
  • Be able to think outside-the-box and brainstorm locally relevant marketing initiatives; including all aspects of pre-production, event execution, and post-event follow-up
  • Brainstorm and test marketing techniques to increase visibility and traffic on Johns Hopkins and Loyola campuses
  • Experiment and come up with new and alternative ways to leverage campus and local events and guerrilla marketing opportunities
  • Build relationships with campus organizations, local organizations and businesses for promotional opportunities
  • Coordinate with Community Marketing Manager to utilize brand ambassadors for campus events, local events and promotions
  • Help to grow OrderUp social media following for North Baltimore social channels


  • 100% comfortable putting yourself out there and talking to students and members of the North Baltimore community
  • Work from OrderUp corporate headquarters in Canton - Baltimore, MD
  • Must be currently attending Johns Hopkins University, Loyola University
  • Commitment to working two full semesters (options to extend this internship into the 2016 Spring and future semesters will be based on performance)
  • Literate in Microsoft Office, various social media platforms

Minimum Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelors Degree
  • 1-2 years on-the-job experience in sales and/or marketing is preferred
  • Extremely networked within the student body
  • Social media & tech savvy to promote brands/events
  • Able to work with minimal supervision while maintaining focus & productivity; able to meet deadline
